Dentures and Partial Dentures

Dentures and Partial Dentures

Dentures and partial dentures are both types of dental prosthetics that can be used to replace missing teeth.

Dentures, also known as false teeth, are a removable appliance that is worn in the mouth to replace multiple missing teeth. They are typically made of acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal. Full dentures are used when all of the natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Partial dentures are similar to full dentures, but they are used to replace only some of the missing teeth. They typically consist of replacement teeth that are attached to a plastic or metal framework that is held in place by clasps around the remaining natural teeth.

Both Dentures and Partial Dentures are an affordable option for replacing missing teeth, but they are not as stable as dental implants or bridges, and may require adjustments over time to ensure a comfortable fit. They also require regular maintenance like cleaning and relining.

It’s worth noting that over time, both full and partial dentures can cause the jawbone to shrink, which affects the fit and may require adjustments or even replacement.
