Dental Implants

Dental implants are a type of tooth replacement option that involve surgically placing small titanium screws into the jawbone to act as the roots of missing teeth. These screws are then topped with a connector post, called an abutment, and then a dental prosthetic (like a crown, bridge or denture) is attached to the abutment.

The process of placing a dental implant typically involves multiple steps and appointments with the dentist. In the first step, the implant is surgically placed into the jaw bone. Then, the implant is left to heal and integrate with the surrounding bone for several weeks or months. After healing, the abutment is placed on top of the implant and the implant is ready to receive the dental prosthetic.

Dental implants are a popular option for tooth replacement because they look, feel and function like natural teeth. They are also durable, with a high success rate of 95-98% and can last for a lifetime with proper care. However, the procedure is generally more complex and expensive than other tooth replacement options and not everyone is a candidate for dental implant due to certain medical conditions or jawbone density.
