Description
Procedure: The root canal treatment involves several steps carried out over one or more office visits, depending on the situation:
- Diagnosis: Using X-rays, our experienced dentists will assess the extent of damage to determine the precise treatment plan.
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
- Pulpectomy: An opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access and remove the infected or injured pulp.
- Cleaning and Shaping: After removal of the pulp, the canal is thoroughly cleaned, enlarged, and shaped to prepare it for sealing.
- Filling: The cleaned and shaped space is filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha and sealed with adhesive cement.
- Restoration: Depending on the extent of decay, a crown or other restoration is placed on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function.
Aftercare: Post-treatment care is crucial for recovery. Patients are advised to avoid chewing on the affected side until the numbness wears off and the permanent restoration is complete. Proper oral hygiene practices and regular dental visits are recommended to prolong the life of the treated tooth.
